ZIMBABWE IN NEED
In November 2017, Pastor Casey was invited to address a conference in Chiredzi, Zimbabwe. Two days after his arrival, the government of Robert Mugabe collapsed after 37 years, and the country came under the control of the military. Despite these events, his trip was very successful, as God moved and brought over 50 people to a personal relationship with Christ.
He was invited to return to Zimbabwe again in August 2018. During this trip, he also visited Mupinga, where they observed an amazing well system that met the needs of a small community of six hundred. It became clear that clean, accessible water is a massive need for the people of Zimbabwe. Many people in rural or less urban areas of Zimbabwe must walk long distances to find water and then carry it back to their homes in large containers. This water is usually dirty and bacteria-filled, causing many waterborne illnesses. Additionally, many of these people are women - which hinders their ability for schooling. This trip was the changing point for Pastor Casey and Motion Church.
While surveying possible well sites in 2019, we visited Foundations For Farming and joined with this incredible ministry that trains rural Zimbabweans how to farm without using conventional equipment. Check out our gallery below to see the progress.
Except for the COVID epidemic, Casey and fellow pastor Dennis Richie have returned to Zimbabwe each year. We now have three well systems operating and are seeking to build a fourth in another remote region of the country. Anyone can join in on the effort to provide relief to the people of Zimbabwe! You don't need to be a church-goer or Motion attendee to help, but you can join the Wells for Zimbabwe Team. Donate below!
